বিসিএস প্রিলি সহ বিভিন্ন সরকারী চাকরির পরীক্ষার ইংরেজির নিচের রুলস গুলো থেকে প্রশ্ন আসে।
বিভিন্ন মরণ Die কে সহজেই মনে রাখুন
He died not of cholera , not from over eating , not for his country , not by poison or by run over bus , but in peace
● Die of (disease) রোগে মারা গেলে
● From (an effect ) বেশি খেয়ে মারা গেলে
● For (a cause ) দেশের জন্য মারা গেলে
● By (accident/ poison) দুর্ঘটনায় মারা গেলে
● In (peace ) শান্তি প্রতিষ্ঠায় মারা গেলে
● Die away : বিলুপ্ত হওয়া
● Die down : বেগ প্রশমিত হওয়া
● Die off : গাদা গাদা মরা
● Die out : বিলুপ্ত হওয়া
আরো কিছু Rules
● কোন Sentence এর মাঝখানে যদি কমা থাকে এবং এই কমার পর verb থাকে তাহলে verb এর সাথে ing যোগ করতে হয় ।
● যেমন ● He went away , (leaving) me alone .
গুরুত্বপূর্ণ একটি Rule
● It is no good
● It is no use
● It is nice/It was nice
● It is crazy/ It was crazy এগুলোর পরপরই যে verb থাকে তার সাথে ing যোগ করতে হয়।
যেমন It is no use (talking) to him .
“All” এর পরে Plural Verb বসে কিন্তু প্রবাদ বাক্য বা Proverbial Word এর পক্ষে Verb Singular হয় ।
উদাহরণ:
● All men (be) present.
= All men were/are present.
সকল ব্যক্তিই উপস্থিত ছিল ।
● All that (glitter) is not gold.
= All that glitters is not gold.
চক চক করিলেই সোনা হয় না ।
Used_to_এর বিশেষ ব্যবহার:
★Used to ব্যবহার করা হয় যখন কেউ অতীতে কোন কাজে অভ্যস্ত ছিল কিন্তু এখন আর নেই বা সেই কাজ এখন আর করা হয় না।
★গঠন প্রণালীঃ
Rule:01: used to + verb in Simple form
#rulle_02: কিন্তু be(am/is/are/was/were) /get +used to + (verb+ing)
যেমনঃ
01) I used to enjoy fresh air in the morning.
02)I was used to enjoying fresh air in the morning.
Must= আবশ্যক বুঝায়।
যেমনঃ 01)Every Muslim must pray Five times Salat.
★অন্যদিকে have to/ has to= করতে হবে কিন্তু আবশ্যক নয় বুঝায়।
যেমনঃ Every Muslim has to pray nafal Salat.
★এছাড়া Had better= বরং ভাল বুঝায়।
যেমনঃ You had better go home now. [তোমার বরং বাড়ী চলে যাওয়ায় ভাল]
কিছু শব্দ Verb এবং Noun হিসাবে বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত হয় ।
যেমন
● Water(verb) = He waters in the garden.
● Water(noun)=The water of the pond is fresh
● Study(verb)=He studies well.
● Study(noun)=My study room is fine.
● Place(verb)=He placed his argument.
● Place(noun)=This is a very good place.
● Move(verb)=They move in the area.
● Move(noun)=what is you move?
Modal auxiliary verb যেমন : can, could, may, might, should, would, ought to, used to, must ইত্যাদি থাকলে মূল verb-এর present form হয়। যেমন: He can (do) it easily. Ans.: He can do it easily.
Everybody should (respect) his parents.
Ans.: Everybody should respect his parents.
It may (rain) today. Ans.: It may rain today.
আরো কিছু রুলস
সাধারণত It is time, it is high time, wish ইত্যাদির পরে subject ও bracket-এ মূল verb থাকলে verb-এর past form হয়।
যেমন: It is time you (finish) a course on English language.
Ans.: It is time you finished a course on English language.
I wish I (sing). Ans.: I wish I sang.
আবার, It is time, it is high time-এর পর যদি bracket-এ মূল verb থাকে, তবে ওই verb-এর আগে to বসবে এবং ওই verb অপরিবর্তিত থাকবে।
যেমন: It is time (play). Ans.: It is time to play.
It is high time (stand) by the flood-affected people.
Ans.: It is high time to stand by the flood-affected people.
As if, as though, wish ইত্যাদি থাকলে subject-এর পরে be verb-এর পরিবর্তে were বসে। যেমন: He behaves as if he (be) a leader.
Ans.: He behaves as if he were a leader.
I wish I (be) a millionaire.
Ans.: I wish I were a millionaire.
Adjective-এর আগে the বসলে subjectটি plural হয় এবং তদনুযায়ী verb বসে।
যেমন: The virtuous (to be) blessed.
Ans.: The virtuous are blessed.
The poor (live) from hand to mouth.
Ans.: The poor live from hand to mouth.
Can not help, could not help, look forward to, with a view to, get used to, mind ইত্যাদির পরে verb-এর সঙ্গে ing যুক্ত হয়।
যেমন: He came to Dhaka with a view to (find) a job.
Ans.: He came to Dhaka with a view to finding a job.
I cannot help (laugh).
Ans.: I cannot help laughing.
